Guide to Winter Skincare
Introduction:
Winter may be rough on your skin, making it dry, itchy, and irritated.
But may also feel trapped: the cold, blustery weather outside can irritate your
skin, while heat indoors zaps moisture from the air and your skin.
1. Dry and cracked skin:
Cause: Air at 86
degrees Fahrenheit may store three times as much moisture
as air at 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
Solution: Quench your
skin's thirst with a heavier cream, and then seal it all in with oil. Look for
squalane and vitamin E as constituents.
2. Dullness and uneven texture:
Cause: Despite
appropriate exfoliation, dead skin cells accumulate on the surface of the skin,
blocking pores and causing it to lose its radiance.
Solution: The good
physical exfoliator, such as Day Maker, will scrape away dead skin cells while
also improving skin tone and texture.
3. Acne:
Cause: So the
skin's moisture levels are out of whack throughout the winter, oil glands will
periodically go into overdrive to compensate for all that dryness.
Solution: Try
including a water-gel Clarifying serum into your routine.
4. Sunburn:
Cause: Never using
SPF at all, and therefore not reapplying it.
Solution: Using
ingredients such as aloe vera leaf juice replenish and moisturize the skin.
Conclusion:
Winter isn't everyone's favourite season, and it's likely that it's not
your skin's favourite either. But that doesn't mean winter has to wreak havoc on
your skin or you. Make the most of the chilly weather by following a winter
skincare routine that is both nourishing and protective.
